Wasser und Umwelt - Sampling of ground- and surface water

Water is fundamental for all life on Earth. The amount of available water is limited and cannot be replenished artificially.

Groundwater is the main source of drinking water. In Germany, about 74% of drinking water originates from groundwater. Water monitoring, analysis, and evaluation are necessary on a regular basis in order to ensure clean and sustainable drinking water quality. Anthropogenic influences, for example pesticides, fertilizers, air-borne pollutants, solvents and oils, represent a threat to drinking water and groundwater quality. Regular sampling of drinking water and groundwater can help to understand the composition and origin of the contamination and provides starting points for the optimization of monitoring programs.

The sampling of drinking water and groundwater is accomplished according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025, either as a tap sample with a pump or by drilling of groundwater wells (MP1 Grundfoss). For analysis, appropriate sampling is a prerequisite for acceptable results.
